CONVEYED ITS CONDOLENCES TO THE AMLA FAMILY
Dolphins Cricket confirmed on Thursday via social media the death of Dr Mohamed Amla.
The union conveyed its sincere and heartfelt condolences to Amla and his brother Ahmed, as well as their family and friends.
Hashim Amla played 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20Is for South Africa before hanging up his pads in mid-2019.
Amla, now 37, was spotted in the commentary box during the Boxing Day Test between the Proteas and Sri Lanka at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
SA’S SECOND-HIGHEST TEST RUN SCORER
He is the Proteas’ second-highest Test run scorer of all time and boasted an average of 46.64. Amla scored 28 Test centuries and holds the record for the highest ever individual Test score for South Africa of 311 not out.
While Hashim Amla’s older brother Ahmed didn’t represent his country at international level, he was a stalwart for Natal and the Dolphins over the past decade.
Condolences from The South African team to the Amla family.
