On her way to Silverton Nikita threw her cell phone through the Uber’s window in order not to be traced. She was there the whole time. This is according to Jan Germishuizen, Nikita Lotterings stepfather.
Nikita was traced last night since her disappearance on 30th November 2020. On the day of her disappearance, she informed her grandmother that she wanted to visit her brother to assist her with her cell phone. Shortly thereafter her cell phone was disconnected and then the search began.
Various organisations and the police searched for more than a week for the missing Nikita, without any success after every lead was followed up.
Germishuizen says that any rumour that she was with Nigerians is false. Germishuizens sister contacted her stepmother in Pretoria as she suspected that Nikita might be with a friend in Silverton. “My sister contacted Nikitas stepmom and requested her to obtain the friends address. She suspected that Nikita was with him all the time” says Germishuizen.

We now discovered that Nikita went by Uber to her friend, which in the meantime has broken up with his girlfriend and Nikita stayed with him in the flat. He wanted to inform the police, but Nikita asked him not to do so. She threatened him that she will tell the police that he kidnapped her. The address was obtained, and they drove to the flat in Silverton where they found Nikita. When her friend later returned to the flat, it was full of policemen.
It is too early to say whether Nikita’s friend will be charged. It was not a kidnapping as she went to him out of her own free will.
Nikita is now home.
