Watch – Durban beachfront packed after Ramaphosa`s family meeting

Holidaymakers flocked to Durban beachfront despite a stern warning from President Cyril Ramaphosa the day before, no sign off masks, social distancing, or sanitisers.

Families could be seen swimming and enjoying the beachfront area.

Ramaphosa on Monday announced that beaches in the Eastern Cape as well as in the Garden Route in the Western Cape would be closed from 16 December to 3 January 2021.

Beaches in KwaZulu Natal however will only be closed on the traditionally busy days including 16,25,26,31 December, as well as 1 January 2021
